FOGBELT Construction and JSL Contracting Inc., are both licensed and bonded, BBB affiliated, start-to-finish, full-service construction companies.
FOGBELT focuses on working the coastline and serving homes in and around San Francisco, Marin, and Sonoma Counties, and JSL serves in and around Sacramento and San Jose, Ca.
As Jon, owner and General Contractor puts it, “We are a dirt to door-knobs operation” and do everything from kitchen and bath remodels to full home restoration, new home builds, and distinctive design building.
We do not offer commercial construction, or landscaping, but can give you great referrals.

WHO WE ARE
FOGBELT Construction, a subsidiary of JSL Contracting Inc., was created to service homes along the San Francico coastline.
Houses near salt water require specific knowledge and materials to ensure lasting craftmanship. Jon, owner and general contractor, grew up in Santa Cruz, CA, surfing the waves by the boardwalk. His passion for building and natural eye for design grew into a life-long career in construction and home building. Working on homes along the “Fog belt” gave him knowledge and skills that set his work apart from other contractors.
As experts in beach home remodels and custom builds, FOGBELT distinguishes themselves from competitors for this reason. FOGBELT is dedicated to meeting the client’s needs with integrity, strong adherence to the client’s budget, and preserving the client’s personal vision.
Jon feels strongly about the preservation of our coastline, and about educating others about the positive impact we can all make on maintaining a healthy eco-system for future generations and our planet. Jon LaPointe
Owner and General Contractor.
Jon is a master craftsman with over 25 years of hands-on experience and education in construction, project management, building design, and interior/exterior restoration. He has a perfectionist mentality with a laid-back vibe. Jon sees home building and remodeling as a creative process, and with that, can envision things many people cannot, and because of this innate talent, he creates spectacular finished products.
Jon’s focus is simple; to meet the client’s vision with expert precision, clear and respectful communication, and to help make the challenges of home building and remodeling less stressful by supporting the vision and goals of the homeowner.

Nate Novak
Nate has been working side-by-side with Jon for almost a decade. He is a master carpenter with over 30 years of experience in the field. Nate is passionate about his craft, especially the fine details and precision work involved. “I am drawn to the thoughtfulness of the entire process, from start to finish. I am excited to collaborate with Jon, whose extensive knowledge and expertise in the field I deeply respect. I feel believe working alongside him is an invaluable opportunity to continue learning and growing as a carpenter.”
Ross Lyons
A Sonoma County native with several years of experience, Ross brings not only his joyful and positive spirit, but also his sweet pup Feisty! Ross has a strong work-ethic, always arriving on time, and will stay until the day’s job is done. Ross prides himself on his strong carpentry skills, always striving to tackle each job with precision, diligence, and attention to detail. He puts forth his very best effort on every project. Ross has been a part of the FOGBELT & JSL team for four years and enjoys working with Jon because, “He recognizes and values hard work and is consistently showing us appreciation. He is supportive and ready to help with any challenges we face regardless if it’s work related or not. Thanks to his guidance I have gained invaluable knowledge

Tony Coe
I began my carpentry journey in 1985, helping my dad install flooring. I continued in my father’s footsteps and learned framing in 1992. In the years to follow, I learned electrical and plumbing, and spent time in the Union as a flooring installer and learned how to sheetrock and paint. I started working with Jon in 2010, and joined the JSL team in 2019, refining my knowledge on various projects, from kitchen, bath, deck and pergola remodels to commercial and high-end hotel remodels. I believe that very project should be held to the highest standards, as if it were my own home. I believe that every project should be held to the highest standards, as if it were my own home.
Fred Altman
Fred grew up in Marin County and is a true artist by nature. If he is not sculpting beautiful, organic soapstone works of art, you can find him meticulously perfecting all the fine details in your home remodel or distinctive design build. Fred has been working in the field for over 25 years and is a wealth of knowledge and information. Fred’s team will win trivia night, every time. What this means for you; is he will not let one stone go unturned and his attention to detail is unparallel. Fred does fine woodwork and is a master craftsman as well. As an artist, Fred offers an eye for design and alternative ways to see projects and problems that arise. Fred’s well-rounded skills and artistic eye make him a great fit and asset for the team.
Mike Holly
I’ve worked in the trades for 15 years, and as a carpenter for the past decade. Carpentry offers me the opportunity to see immediate, tangible results from hard work, and it’s a fulfilling way for me to express creativity. I really enjoy the family feel and company moral of working with JSL and FOGBELT. It makes it easy to feel comfortable and ready for work each day.

Mike Holloway
Mike’s journey in the trades began at the age of 13, and since then has cultivated a wealth of experience across various facets of the construction industry. He spent a decade honing his skills, developing a keen eye for detail and mastering craftmanship. Throughout his younger years, he gained hands-on experience in nearly every phase of construction which gave him a very broad understanding of the industry. His diverse experience gives him a unique advantage, ensuring every project meets the highest standard of quality and craftmanship. Mike mostly focuses on plumbing and electrical work as this has become his passion. Mike has a growth mentality and is continuously inspired to learn about new techniques.
